Our Story-
Turning Curiosity
Into Action

Hey I'm Jiaxing, the founder of EndTheLoop and the leader of the Issaquah, Washington chapter! Here, we seek to prevent adolescents from falling into the vicious cycle of addiction. My inspiration to create this organization originated from a chemistry project in my sophomore year of high school, where students were instructed to develop a public service announcement featuring an assigned drug. I was tasked to research fentanyl, a synthetic schedule II opioid. While doing so, I stumbled upon the story of Prince Rogers Nelson, whose death was attributed to the ingestion of a Vicodin pill laced with fentanyl.

Nelson’s story was eye-opening to me, exemplifying the variety of repercussions that can result from drug abuse. However, his experience was just one story. I couldn’t help but wonder how many adults and adolescents were amidst a similar situation. As I continued my addiction research, I was shocked by the severity of this matter, as many of the horror stories I had glanced upon began with underage consumption.

At this point, I began my journey for change. However, as I began brainstorming the framework for EndTheLoop, I realized that my ambitions exceeded my capability as a single person. Luckily, I was able to partner with Michael, my friend and chemistry classmate who was equally touched by stories of substance abuse, to create this organization.

Although we are a small team, we hope to spread awareness regarding the destructive impact of addiction, as well as the science behind it, worldwide. Whether we reach 5 people or 5 thousand, any difference we make will be worthwhile.

Our Mission

Substance abuse is a growing issue, becoming more severe daily as substances are marketed in increasingly aggressive fashions. Adolescents are especially vulnerable during this time, as we are developing both mentally and physically, causing us to be more prone to impulsive decision-making and flawed judgement.

Consequently, many more underage individuals find themselves in drug-dependent situations, experiencing repercussions that they previously were utterly unaware of. Here at endtheloop, we strive to shed light upon the numerous dangers that may result from drug abuse, in order to help the adolescents of today’s world make more informed decisions when faced with addictive substances.

To spread awareness and promote action surrounding teenage drug abuse prevention, we make short animated videos, write blog articles, and host in person events. The short videos each cover a story of adolecent addiction. This webpage presents information ranging from the science behind to the news surrounding addiction. Our events, featuring engaging learning and community building activities, take place in the Seattle area. So if your nearby and interested, check out the Events tab!
